Apparently in Cuba farmers are considered on the same level as doctors!! Unfortunately it is not just a matter of logic or economics but a generational (the young) desertion from a way of life that is in most respects regarded as fuedal, backward and undesirable. The gorse, the bracken and the brambles will prosper & proliferate long before the realisation of loss can be countered by new appreciation and positive intervention.
